Plants That Forgive You:
Succulents & Easy Houseplants

Home  ·  Houseplants  ·  June 2026

Not every gardener has unlimited time, a green thumb passed down from a grandmother, or a forgiving climate. Some of us are just trying to keep something alive on a windowsill. Succulents and a handful of genuinely easy houseplants exist for exactly that reason — and they’ve quietly become some of my favorite plants to recommend to anyone starting out.

These aren’t the showy, demanding plants that need a humidity tray and a moisture meter. They’re the ones that forgive a missed watering, tolerate inconsistent light, and still look intentional on a shelf. Several are part of Amazon’s Prime Day Kickoff sale (June 20–24).

Where to Start
Best for Beginners
Altman Plants — Live Succulent Assortment

Altman is one of the most trusted names in succulents for a reason — healthy root systems, accurate variety labeling, and a genuinely good survival rate after shipping. An assortment is the easiest way to figure out which varieties you actually enjoy caring for before committing to a single type. 4.5 stars.

Shop Succulents Live Indoor Plant, Easy Care Variety

A reliable mid-range pick if you want a single statement plant rather than an assortment. Shop Succulents ships well and the easy-care label is accurate — these are genuinely low-maintenance, tolerant of irregular watering, and adaptable to most indoor light conditions. 4.2 stars.

Costa Farms Snake Plant — Live Plant in Decor Pot

If someone asked me for the single easiest houseplant to recommend, it would be a snake plant. It tolerates low light, irregular watering, and general neglect better than almost anything else sold as a houseplant. Costa Farms ships it already potted in a clean decorative container, ready to place.

Keiki Cloning Paste — for Orchids & Other Houseplants

Once you’re past the easy-care stage and want to multiply what you already own, a cloning paste like this helps stimulate new growth points on orchids and certain other plants. A small, inexpensive way to expand a collection without buying entirely new plants. 4.4 stars.

Easy Houseplant Rule

The number one killer of succulents and easy houseplants isn’t neglect — it’s overwatering out of guilt. When in doubt, wait. Most of these plants would rather go a week too long without water than sit in soggy soil. Let the top two inches of soil dry out completely before watering again.

Not every plant relationship needs to be high-maintenance to be rewarding. These are the ones that ask very little and still bring something alive into a room. Pick one up before the sale ends June 24.
